After a winter of constantly being in the throes of one blizzard after another, we FINALLY have hit a stretch of nice weather. It has been upwards of 55 degrees and sunny for the past three days. Which got me to thinking...
...about fruit. And veggies.
So, along with two neighboring families, I am joining an organic produce co-op. This particular co-op requires one hour of work per participating family. What a great experience for my children!
I have also decided to grow some of my own produce. Our goal is to harvest our own blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, tomatoes, zucchini, peppers and grapes. All organic. Again, a resounding: "What a great experience for my children!"
I also found out today that my three-year-old, who already has a plethora of medical issues, is also legally blind. She needed glasses with such a strong Rx, that we had to find a specialist to make the lenses...but she still picked out two sweet pair, and we can't wait to receive them. What a whole new world this will be for her!!!! Considering she apparently can't see anything more than two feet in front of her, and she has zero peripheral vision, I am guessing there are going to be a lot of things that she will be amazed to actually "see"...things she could only hazily interpret.
There is talk of patching her left eye. The jury is still out on this. But, this is my daughter; I will do what is warranted to ensure her health and well-being.
Oh, well, off to do my motherly duties. Husband is off on travel, and my four-year-old has an ear infection and is spiking a fever. Never a dull moment.
Needless to say, not much got done here today in the form of lapbooks. But we sure did learn a lot about our daughter!
