What is YOUR Homeschool Style?

Who knew there were so many avenues branching off of the homeschool path?  One could easily become quite overwhelmed!

I am so new at this, that I hesitate to say I have found my niche.  But I have done my research. As I have stated several times in this blog, we are currently using Five in a Row.  Almost like a Unit Study for the youngest of scholars.  But it is so user-friendly;  it allows me to teach when the subject area is uncharted waters for my children, (ie map skills), but allows the curriculum to be child-led when applicable as well.

From here, I am still not sure where to go. I appreciate the way in which the Unit Study is all-encompassing.  I love the beauty of Charlotte Mason.  I love the enthusiasm I see in Unschoolers.  I also find myself enamored by those who have embraced all things Waldorf.

Curriculum.  Wow.  Curriculum is...overwhelming.  So. Many. Choices.  I am attending an ENOCH Convention in the spring.  I also have some books I have received from veteran homeschoolers as well as some I have picked up at Homeschoolers' Open House at our library.   My favorites - so far - are A Beka, LifePac, Rod & Staff and, although my girls are too young at the moment, Switched on Schoolhouse.   I also must give honorable mention to Saxon Math - makes me want to sing out Bob the Builder's mantra "Can we do it? YES WE CAN!"...(It is worth noting that math = NOT my strong suit.  Sadly, it is the area of expertise of both of my parents, though my dad actually taught both mathematics AND science.  Also, my sister does bookkeeping and accounting.  Perhaps I was switched at birth?)

OH! AND! New addition to our homeschool library!!!! YAY! ROSETTA STONE ITALIAN IS ON ITS WAY!!!!!  Did you know they have a homeschool version, and it tracks your child's progress?  It is, if tracked correctly, accepted by many schools/colleges as an accredited class.

Well, I suppose it's time to get some sleep.  After all, tomorrow is another day the Lord is granting us; I, for one, plan to take full advantage of it!

...perhaps tomorrow will bring me some clarity as to which avenue to take...
