I have decided to begin a blog. I welcome you to my journal, to my thoughts, and to my ramblings. I am Jennifer, and I am in love with my life! I have three wonderful children and an equally wonderful husband.
I am just beginning down the homeschooling path. My teenage son is in public school, and I come from a long lineage of public school teachers. I have nothing but respect for them, and I say with pride that my son does academically well in the public education system. However, many things are beyond the control of teachers, such as overcrowded classrooms, bullying, and the ironic inequality left in the wake of the No Child Left Behind act. After years of thinking and rethinking, guessing and second guessing, and many, many prayers, we have decided to homeschool our daughters.
We have begun this year with Five in a Row, (henceforth referred to as FIAR). We supplement this with Christian-based Alpha Omega Lifepac and A Beka. And, so far, it is working beautifully. My girls love recreating what they've learned in their lapbooks. We do one for each book read in the FIAR curriculum. I love the spark that I see in their eyes when genuine understanding, real learning, and unparalleled enthusiasm meet. *sigh* My children are amazing!
My children are very active in our Church. We all attend Sunday Worship Services, Sunday School, Youth Groups - my son is even going on a Mission this summer! His first! I am unspeakably proud.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it...I am counting on this to be truth.
